Living Overseas
Many people of work or study overseas as part of a gap year will be surprised at many of the experiences that await them, especially if its their first time away from home. The freedom of living away from home and the new experiences they'll have visiting another country makes a gap year abroad very enjoyable for most people.
However, before you set out and start enjoying yourself there's a lot you'll need to prepare in advance. Spending a long time in a country might require filling in a great deal of paperwork permitting you to live and work there. You'll need to sort out a number of documents, arranges visas and work permits if you're staying for any length of time. Plus if you're visiting a far flung location such as Australia then there's a good chance that you'll need some vaccinations too. So, there's plenty to do before you head off.
Also you might be thinking what to bring with you. Obviously you can't bring everything you need for a long stay, so think carefully. Essential items such as clothes and sunglasses you'll need to bring with you. If the country is very hot then sunglasses are vital and so are appropriate clothes. However, you should be able to buy a lot of the items you require in the country you'll be living in. Also many people on gap years will arrange to lodge with friends or family there, so they will have a lot of the essential items you need for day to day living.
